The Big Reader

There is an electronic magnifier in the library to help customers with vision loss. It can be used to view books, images, maps, leaflets or documents in the library.

RaW

Do you want to get more out of reading and writing? Onchan Library is taking part in the BBC RaW campaign to help adults become more confident with their reading and writing skills.

Call and take a look in our RaW welcome corner where you can find out more. We have a range of quick reads to get you started, and can offer you Internet access to the BBC RaW website.

Free tuition is available to help you surf the web, use e-mail, write letters or fill in forms on line. Just ask at the library counter or telephone 621228.

Manx Dyslexia Association

The MDA has a large collection of books housed in Onchan Library for you to use to help with reading problems.

Can't Read, Won't Read

The library stocks a selection of books from Barrington Stokes to encourage reluctant readers. See their web site

Comic Books

Reluctant readers can also choose from the range of graphic novels available. All your favourite comic book heroes to choose from.

Large Print

There are hundreds of large print books available on the library shelves, and we do take requests. The latest authors and best sellers are published in a large print format.

Audio

More than 600 books to listen to either on tape or CD and new editions are added regularly.

Who writes like ... ?

If you've found a favourite writer and want to know who to read next, pick up a list of
suggestions from the library. Library staff are always happy to make recommendations and
help you to find a good read.
