The Library Diamond Jubilee

On Thursday 2nd December the Onchan Public Library celebrated its Diamond Jubilee having originally opened in Hawthorn Villa in 1944. A special birthday cake was made by Marion Watterson, wife of the Rural Commissioner Keith Watterson.

It was hoped that Frank Johnson of Ramsey who was a member of the Onchan Village Commissioners in 1944 would be present and help to cut the cake. Unfortunately he did not feel up to the journey so stayed at home and celebrated his 95th birthday that day with family.
