Bloomin' Marvellous!

Onchan District Commissioners asked local primary school children to help them design a planting scheme to add a splash of colour to some new planters in Onchan.

There was a blooming marvelous response, with 168 entries from local children and the pupils of Ashley Hill and Onchan Primary Schools. Mrs June Kelly, the lead member for Property and Amenities with Onchan District Commissioners presented Eddie Roberts, age 6, from Onchan Primary School, and Kaci Midghall-Gurry, age 7, from Ashley Hill School with their prizes at Onchan Library last Friday 5^th June.

Mrs Kelly and Tim Craig, The Deputy Clerk, then went on to help the budding garden designers with their planting. Eddie’s design in blue and white and Kaci’s in Red and gold can be seen coming into bloom at Onchan District Commissioner’s Office on the Main Road in Onchan.

The competition has been so successful that local children will have another opportunity to design planting schemes for Onchan next year.
