Presentation to Imogen Staphnill

Throughout the year promotions are held in the Onchan Library to encourage children to read.

One recent competition was for children to draw or colour a picture of their favourite animal and to write about it.

The recent competition was sponsored by Mrs Maureen Dadd of the world famous Ballalheannagh Gardens in Lonan.

More than 100 children entered the competition and each entrant received a small toy provided by Mrs Dadd who also presented the library with a book in memory of her late husband Cliff Dadd, the creator of the gardens.

Winner of the competition was Imogen Staphnill aged six of Onchan who received her prize of a book, cuddly toy and book token from commissioners' chairman Terry Black
