Children’s Library

Onchan Library welcomes all young readers! It only costs £1.00 per year to join, and you can choose from over 6,000 children’s books. You are welcome to use the library computers for homework, and there are regular events and competitions for you to join in throughout the year. Ask about our summer reading challenge.

• We have a great choice of Picture Books and Board Books for babies and toddlers. All the old favourites such as ‘Winnie the Pooh’ and new characters like Charlie and Lola are there to choose from. You’re never too young to start reading!

• You will find classics such as ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, and Charlotte’s Web, as well as the famous Harry Potter, Horrid Henry and the extraordinary Captain Underpants . There are wonderful storytellers like Michael Morpugo, Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl, Anthony Horowitz and to name but a few.

• For Young Adults we have the Maximum Ride series, and writers such as Louise Rennison, Meg Cabot, Andy McNab and more. There are also comic books and manga to choose from.

• You will also find information to help you with your homework – or just because you’re interested. Books on animals, history, science, art, dinosaurs (we’ve got lots of those!) and much, much more!

• Try our talking books for when you want to listen to a good story.
